Call for Symposia MB2027

The Scientific Program Committee invites you to submit Symposia & Workshops proposals for Measuring Behavior 2027.

If you are interested in submitting a proposal, please send an outline of maximum 1 page to Andrew@measuringbehavior.org, including:
– a title,
– a 1-2 paragraph summary,
– 4-5 possible speakers,
– Indication if it is an interactive workshop or a symposium with a series of presentations.

The deadline is Friday, October 9th 2026. Note that all symposium speakers must submit a 1-7 page short paper for peer-review (organised by the symposium chair together with the conference program committee) for inclusion in the Proceedings. There will also be the opportunity to submit full papers to special issues of journals. In addition to the speakers you recruit, it is possible that some papers submitted to the general sessions may fit with your symposium. The conference does not fund symposia speakers (also not with fee-waivers), but the symposia are encouraged to seek sponsorship, for example, by using them as a dissemination event for a collaborative project.

Submission is open for:
Symposia: Sessions organized around a specific topic and organized by a symposium chair. The symposium chair oversees the paper review process; accepted papers are presented in the symposium. Submitted papers will be blind reviewed by the Measuring Behavior reviewing committee. Speakers at symposia must attend in person, but remote attendees will be able to view and submit questions.
Workshops: Sessions dedicated to hosting interactive discussions about novel topics in Measuring Behavior organized by a workshop chair. Successful workshops are typically based around a new or disruptive concept or demonstration of new technologies or methodologies. Submissions are especially encouraged from industry and research centres. Any presentations in workshops are not peer-reviewed and so not published in the Proceedings. Workshops must be fully interactive and not just be a series of presentations with short discussions.
Innovative program elements: The organisers are always open to new ideas and renewal of the conference formula and will welcome good ideas for new types of sessions at the conference.

The call for papers will be issued later in the summer.

Topics
The conference is open for any topic related to the measurement of the behavior of people and animals. The focus should be on tools and methods, not on results. To get an idea of the topics we are expecting, see the Topics page. If you are not sure if your idea fits, feel free to contact us (Andrew@measuringbehavior.org) to discuss it informally.
