Travel grants

The scientific program committee encourages research to be presented by the scientists who have carried it out.  PhD and MSc students qualify for a reduced registration fee and in addition there are a limited number of travel grants available.

The grant consists of up €500 towards travel costs and a waiver of the conference fees. It does not include hotel costs or any other expenses.

Criteria

The grants will be competitive and be judged on three criteria (listed in order of importance):

  • The level of innovation in methodology of your work
  • Being resident in a country that is not a member of the OECD is an advantage.
  • The travel grants are sponsored by Noldus Information Technology. Although it is not necessary to use equipment or software supplied by Noldus Information Technology, it is an advantage.

To qualify for a grant you must meet the following criteria:

  • Your presentation must describe work that is innovative in the field of measuring behavior.
  • You must be a postgraduate student at a recognized educational institution.
  • Your abstract must be accepted for the conference by the scientific program committee as an oral presentation, and you must be the presenter.

Procedure

  1. Submit your abstract in the normal way
  2. Mail the conference program chair (Andrew @ measuringbehavior.org) the following information:
    • Proof of student status (e.g. a letter from your head of department).
    • Proof that your travel costs meet or excede €500 (but if your work is innovative and you have less costs, you might still qualify for a fee waiver or partial grant).
    • An explanation in less than one page as to why you think your work is innovative.

Deadlines

  • Abstracts and applications for the travel grant must be submitted before 1 April 2012
  • Applicants will be notified in May 2012 if they are successful.
